Looking at French Design Influences

I wanted to look at more French design to see how this would impact my logo design and to make this more interesting in the brand and the website.

This Barbers is one of the best barbers in Paris and the design style is familiar to the style of the other barbers, they also use subtle French influence which is with the location of the barbers shop.

The barber pole design is used within this and the traditional look of the logo is simplistic and stylish while also expressing the brand.

First Logo Design

Looking at the traditional and modern barber shop design, I wanted to use some of the elements which they use in their brand and incorporate them into the brand and website of Les Barbe Magnifique.

The font of this and the style of this design are very simple but stylish and use the tag lines next to the name. For the brand, I want to show the upmarket and the quality design to the logo and the website. I also want to show the brand and what the business is. Therefore, I am using this sketched image which show the rustic design of the barber brand design.

This style is influenced by the traditional styles of the Victorian barber style which is simplistic but also stylish in its design which is familiar with the audience of the professional man.

I would like to see how this logo could be improved with colour and how this could include the French Design.

London Barber Shop and Website Design

When thinking about how to design the logo and brand with the target audience influence of the Hipster and the Professional Business man, I looked some of the best barbers in London. Esquire Magazine created a list of ‘The Best Barbers in London’ and I looked at the style of these and how they aim their audience.

The Refinery –

The refinery which is located in Mayfair and also in Harrods, styles their barbers as upmarket and the design of their logo and the website is very stylish and also very minimalistic design. They use traditional design ideas which link to their target audience and their location.

Like a lot of the barber designs, they have the tagline either side of the logo and they are similar style to the logo font and the traditional style even though this is a modern brand.

Tommy Gun’s –

Tommy Gun’s is a modern barbers which use traditional design elements to their brand, which is shown in the website and the logo.

They use the rustic design style and use a very bold font which shows the traditional salon design to promote the brand and the barber design. They also use tag lines with their logo.

Murdock London –

The design of Murdock London barbers has a very traditional and also uses modern design to influence the style and the brand of the barbers.

They use the colour of the barber pole which is shown in a number of traditional barber design and also uses the bold font.

I like the way in which the design of the professional barbers in London are very traditional and stylish and they use bold font.

Target Audience

In order to create a brand, I looked into the target audience and who uses barber shops. The two stereotypes of the audience of a barber shop are the modern day ‘Hipster’ and the ‘Professional Man’ and the brands of modern day Barber Shops reflect this.

This mood board shows what the modern day hipster wants and uses and the design which is familiar with this.

This mood board shows what the professional man looks for and uses with the simple and elegant design.

I want to see if the target audiences are similar in the design that are used and I want to see if the design in these are used together in the brand.

Other Ideas and Context

Looking at more of the logos for barber’s, the design of these are simple and functional, but use elements of the barber shop brand and business.

I wanted to look at how I could keep the French style but also design a more simple and functional brand and logo.

I created this logo which is inspired by the French flag and with the idea of the professional man and this expresses the French and professional looking brand.

Design 1

I like the simple but professional look of this logo and I like the shades of the colours which stand out in a fashionable way.

However, this doesn’t express anything about the brand and I would like to see how I could use images to show this.

I want to create this sort of illustration to use on the logo and have this explain what the brand is with the style of the professional design.

Design 2

This logo is more interesting and shows the brand with the hand drawn images. It is simple and suits the target audience. The barber logos seem to use the font and words in alignment and are structured with simple images and wording.

I want to look at the design of how I present the words and the images and the words on the page and how this represents the Barber Shop and the French design.
